For more than 25 years, Jeff Hill has made cardiac care his world. He began his career caring directly for patients as a cardiac sonographer and now helps prepare the next generation as an assistant professor and director of echocardiography.
Throughout his professional journey, Jeff has seen how echocardiography can support care decisions. In some cases, echocardiography may help identify signs of disease for the first time. In others, it may help clinicians monitor a known condition, assess changes in heart function or inform follow-up care decisions.
That combination of technology and human expertise is what has kept Jeff inspired. While imaging technology has become more advanced over the years, he believes the person behind the probe remains central to the patient experience.
As a professor, Jeff teaches students to pair technical excellence with empathy, recognizing that many patients arrive for an echo feeling uncertain, anxious or afraid. His goal is to help future sonographers understand that every image they capture is connected to a person waiting for answers.
